Humans Contribute to Global Warming

Our world already faced hundreds of changes. Starting from the time it was created up until today, change is still very eminent. The earth rotates around its axis and continually revolves around the sun for three hundred sixty five days. It has been plagued many times by all kinds of calamities that are due to changes in weather conditions like hurricanes, thunderstorms, tornadoes, floods and blizzards. The earth experiences different kinds of weather at different areas. Our weather is greatly affected by the heat of the sun. Its heat is converted to energy that give rise to many of the natural occurring phenomena here on earth. The greatest problem that is emerging today is the morbid effects of global warming. This problem is triggered by an excess of greenhouse gases which traps the heat of the sun, making the earth warmer. In normal amounts, this greenhouse gases like methane, carbon dioxide and water vapor are necessary to provide heat for the planet. Without this greenhouse gases the earth will become colder and ice will cover the entire planet making it hard for humans to live.

Global warming is an intense increase in the temperature of the earth and it has been documented that compared to previous temperatures recorded in the past few years, our planet had significantly become warmer. Because of many inventions created by man, we utilize machines that are slowly destroying our planet. Machines like refrigerators and air conditioners emit compounds like chlorofluorocarbons and other gases. Humans are utilizing products that emit more carbon dioxide to produce electricity. These gases rise up in the atmosphere that will contribute to further destruction the earth in the long run. It is said that global warming will pose a great threat to humanity and it will trigger climate change. It means that areas that do not usually receive rain throughout the year will experience an increase in rainfall triggering floods and other emergencies. If an area is experiencing heavy rains it will take only a short period of time to cause floods that are not expected. Some bodies of water will dry up because of the increase in the temperature, triggering a destruction of agricultural plains that might further lead to scarcity of supplies like crops. The supply will no longer meet the demand of the people. It is also explained by scientists that too much heat will affect the glaciers in the northern hemisphere that will slowly melt them and decrease the number of floating ice. Water levels will significantly rise and will affect the entire planet. Islands that do not experience floods will get to experience it. There are also parts of the world that will be completely submerged in water if the glaciers continue to melt. There are also certain abnormalities with regards to average rainfall in different areas of the world. Global warming will also affect many animal species. Some cannot tolerate the intense heat that will trigger them to transfer to other places of the globe that is cooler. Those who do not have the ability to migrate will become extinct.

The health of humans is at greater risk when the earth continues to become warm. Many individuals will not be able to take the great shifting in the temperature and climate changes. Many will get sick and acquire respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Many people will experience heat stroke and will cause death to others. Those diseases that naturally occur to a limited number of areas will be widespread. The most common would be those diseases carried by mosquitoes like malaria and dengue hemorrhagic fever which are very deadly and commonly found in tropical areas. Because of the scarcity of resources many will experience hunger. People will not have enough food to supply their needs and will increase the number of malnourished individuals. It would also make them susceptible to many diseases as their bodies do not get what it needs. Mortality and morbidity rates would greatly increase in number.

Indeed, these sudden changes will produce great effects to the planet. Humans are the major contributor of these changes we experience. If we could only learn to discipline ourselves and control the usage of these machines that emit harmful gases we will not put ourselves and our planet in distress. There are many alternatives to choose from and our future lies in our own hands. We must do what we can to save our planet. We must start with ourselves so others will follow.
